Mixing and Application
At the time of manufacture, B&B Super Fine is sieved through a 60 mesh (maximum particle size 250 micron) screen. Any attempt to apply the product through nozzles or filters which are finer than this may result in equipment blockage. Ensure spray equipment and product handling equipment is clean and not contaminated with products likely to cause crop injury when mixed with B&B Super-Fine ALWAYS USE CLEAN WATER. . When mixing with other products, check compatibility first and always add B&B Flow-Fine last and stir or agitate thoroughly before use. ALWAYS USE CLEAN WATER. Remove nozzle filters Add to the mix or spray vat through a filter basket. Use 50 mesh (297 micron) in line filters or larger Use nozzles rated at .3 L per minute (TEEJET 003 equivalent) or larger Ensure good agitation of the tank mix at all times Always add B&B Super Fine to the tank mix last
1000 L Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBC) Agitation
Fig. 1- agitation Fig. 2 – wand Fig. 3 – Air Induction Air Wand Agitation Remove the large cap on top of the IBC Attach an air hose to an air wand similar to that illustrated (figures 1 & 2) Insert air wand through top of IBC and slowly bubble air into the bottom of the tank making sure to reach into each corner of the IBC Be careful not to inject air too quickly otherwise frothing or overflow can occur Run the air wand over the bottom of the IBC until you are sure there is no sediment left at the bottom Air Induction Agitation For product that has not been agitated for a period of 1 month or longer also consider using an air induction fitting (figure 3) and follow the instructions below: Remove the large cap on top of the IBC Attach an air induction fitting similar to that illustrated to the bottom tap using a camlock Attach an air hose from an air compressor to the air induction fitting Make sure the ball valve on the air induction fitting is closed and open the ball valve into the bottom of the IBC fitting wand Slowly open the ball valve on the air induction fitting to allow compressed air to slowly bubble into the bottom of the IBC making sure the air flow is regulated so as not to overflow the container Allow the air to bubble in to the container for 5 to 10 minutes, shut off the airflow, close the tap on the bottom of the IBC and remove the air induction fitting. Once you are confident that the material from the bottom of the IBC has been re-suspended, use an air wand as per the instructions above to suspend the material which may still be in the corners of the IBC. When the last of the product has been used from the IBC a small quantity of water (50 to 100 L) should be used to rinse the container. This rinse liquid should be added to the mix vat.
200 Litre Drum Agitation
Step 1 Remove both caps from top of the 200 L drum Step 2 Attach an air hose to an air wand (figure 1) Step 3 Insert air wand through top of drum and slowly bubble air into the bottom of the drum making sure to reach into the edges of the bottom of the drum Step 4 Be careful not to inject air too quickly otherwise too much frothing or overflow can occur Step 5 Run the air wand over the bottom of the drum until you are sure the heavier bone particles which had settled to the bottom are re-suspended full If product has been stored in excess of 1 month it will take longer to re-suspend NOTE: When the last of the product has been used from the 200 L drum a small quantity of water (10 to 20 L) should be used to rinse the container. This rinse liquid should be added to the mix vat.
20 Litre Drum Agitation
When using a full 20 L drum all at once: It is possible to empty the full contents of the drum into the spray tank and then put a small quantity of water (5 L) into the drum and shake vigorously making sure that all sediment is suspended in the rinse water which should be added to the spray tank When using a part 20 L drum: On first use of the drum turn the drum upside down making sure the cap is securely in place With the drum on a firm surface shake it vigorously from side to side so that any sediment on the bottom of the drum gets re-suspended It is also possible to use an air wand and procedure similar to that listed under 200 L drum above Once empty the drum should be rinsed with 5 to 10 L of water with the rinse liquid being added to the spray tank
Agitation of Diluted Material
B&B Super Fine: Liquid Blood and Bone contains finely ground bone particles which need to be maintained in suspension during the application process. Commercial Equipment Most commercial application equipment maintain agitation either through a venturi or mechanical system. It is important that this system is functioning properly at all times during the application process. Home Garden or Small Plot Applications For home garden or small plot applications not fitted with agitation systems it is important for the operator to shake or otherwise agitate the contents of the applicator on a regular basis to ensure that the finely ground particles stay in suspension.
Storage
Temperature Considerations B&B Super Fine should be stored away from extremes of temperature as the material may expand with heat and cause leakage. Storage in very cold conditions may cause the formation of crystals. Where this is suspected to have occurred, be sure to strain the material as it is added into the spray tank. Heat Concerns Material may expand with heat and cause leakage Cold Concerns Very cold conditions may cause crystal formation Solution Strain material when adding to spray tank if crystals are suspected
Environmental Considerations
B&B Super Fine is environmentally responsible when used as directed Wildlife Safety B&B Super Fine does not harm birds, bees and animals or the environment when used as directed. Grazing Considerations Grazing of pasture or crops treated with B&B Super Fine is not a problem. Important Restriction B&B Super Fine is made from ovine (sheep) blood and bone and must not be fed to sheep, cattle, deer, alpacas, goats or other ruminant animals in accordance with the ruminant feed ban regulations. While B&B Super Fine is environmentally friendly, remember that it must not be fed to ruminant animals in accordance with feed ban regulations.
